Hyperliquid’s most profitable traders are leaning bearish, creating a notable divergence between the platform’s biggest winners and smaller wallet cohorts.

According to the latest PnL positioning data, the “Money Printer” group, wallets with more than $1 million in profit, currently holds approximately $2.82 billion in long positions against $2.88 billion in shorts. That leaves the cohort with a modest net-short exposure of roughly $60 million and an overall bearish wallet bias.

The positioning becomes more interesting when compared with every other PnL group. Traders with $100,000–$1 million in profits remain slightly bullish, carrying $879.11 million in longs against $419.12 million in shorts. The $10,000–$100,000 cohort is considerably more bullish, with $526.93 million long versus only $188.74 million short.

Retail-sized wallets show a similar pattern. The $0–$10,000 profit cohort has nearly three times as much long exposure as short exposure: $240.83 million against $82.70 million. Even wallets sitting at a small overall loss are classified as very bullish.

Hyperliquid’s Money Printer cohort controls $5.70 billion in total positions, substantially more than any other group, but its long-short difference is tiny relative to that exposure. This is not an aggressive directional bet against the market. Instead, the data suggests that the most profitable traders have become considerably more cautious and may be hedging existing exposure or positioning for elevated downside risk.

The winners-versus-losers split also remains positive inside the cohort, with 216 winning positions against 160 losing ones. Therefore, the bearish long-short balance should not automatically be interpreted as whales expecting an immediate market collapse.

Still, the divergence matters. Smaller and moderately profitable Hyperliquid traders are overwhelmingly long, while the platform’s highest-PnL cohort has crossed into net-short territory.

If that gap expands, it could become a much stronger warning that sophisticated traders expect the market’s current bullish momentum to weaken.
