The listing marks key step in Midnight’s expansion into the Japanese market.
Cardano-linked privacy network Midnight expands its foothold in Japan following the listing of the NIGHT token on OKCoinJapan (OKJ), the Japan branch of OK Group, a global cryptocurrency exchange conglomerate that includes OKX and OKCoin.
In an X post that shared Midnight’s X account’s initial post, Input Output highlighted that more access is coming for Midnight in Japan, as the NIGHT token will be available on OKCoinJapan starting October 13, 2026.
More access to NIGHT in Japan. 🇯🇵
From October 13, NIGHT will be available on @OKCoinJapan, another step forward for @MidnightNtwrk’s growing presence in Japan and its work to bring programmable privacy to everyone.
OKJ expands access to NIGHT in one of the world’s most established digital asset markets, being a registered crypto-asset exchange in Japan. Following Midnight’s listing on S.BLOX, this marks another step in Midnight’s growing presence in Japan, bringing NIGHT to more users looking to explore privacy-enhancing infrastructure.
In August 2026, Midnight’s NIGHT token was listed on S.BLOX, a Sony Group company and the first exchange to support it in Japan. The new listing on OKJ is a major milestone for Midnight’s expansion into the Japanese market, as it gives local users another way to access NIGHT.
This week, permissionless smart contract deployment went live on the Midnight mainnet, giving builders more freedom to deploy contracts directly and enabling applications to deploy contracts on behalf of users.
In a recent post, Santiment corroborated that onchain activity for Cardano is picking up.
ADA daily active addresses reached 27,500 on October 7, 2026, and 27,200 on October 8, about 1.7x the September weekday average, though still below the late August peak. The jump lined up with the CIP-0113 token standard going live on mainnet on October 7.
Cardano settled 542,551 transactions on October 8, according to Chainspect, which averages 6.28 TPS on its busiest day of the past seven days. In a major network milestone, Cardano has surpassed 125 million transactions on mainnet; almost 1 million transactions were added in the current epoch alone.
At the time of writing, Cardano’s ADA was up 6.47% in the last 24 hours to $0.244 and up 4.07% weekly, according to CoinMarketCap data; Midnight was up 9% in the last 24 hours to $0.049 following the listing news.
