In the past week, DogeOS launched a public test network for Ethereum-style trading, lending and other applications using DOGE, an attempt to give Dogecoin holders more ways to use their coins beyond payments and price speculation.
Dogecoin Foundation director Timothy Stebbing highlighted this milestone in a recent X post, noting an “absolute avalanche” of new projects building on the Doge/EVM chain.
In the last week we’ve seen @DogeOS go live with their public testnet and an absolute avalanche of new projects building on their doge/EVM chain, and then Metallicus launched DogecoinVM which bridges Dogecoin to their Metal network.
There are more options than ever to build…
Describing itself as the app layer for Dogecoin, DogeOS was founded by the team behind MyDoge, a Dogecoin wallet, and allows developers to use familiar software to build applications by leveraging Ethereum compatibility.
Along similar lines, Metallicus launched DogecoinVM, which bridges Dogecoin to the Metal network. DogecoinVM is described as a DOGE-compatible ledger on the Metal Blockchain. While Dogecoin itself does not change, what changes is the speed and interoperability, making Dogecoin 300x faster with instant finality.
The recent developments, according to Stebbing, imply there are more options than ever to build amazing solutions on Dogecoin, a positive for the network.
In a positive price development, Dogecoin is on track for a golden cross on its daily chart as the MA 50, and MA 200 are set to converge. If confirmed, this will be Dogecoin’s first golden cross of 2026.
This development remains significant for Dogecoin, which last saw a golden cross more than a year ago. Dogecoin’s last golden cross was in August 2025 and one month later, in September 2025, it rose to a high of $0.30.
Dogecoin was trading down on a daily and a weekly basis to $0.093 alongside the rest of the crypto market as a weaker-than-expected September jobs report altered traders’ outlook for a rate hike by the Federal Reserve in October, which is now seen as extremely unlikely.
Investors are still pricing in that the Fed might hike interest rates in December. The decision on the next interest rate will be announced at the end of a two-day policy meeting on October 28.
