The amount of XRP destroyed by transaction fees has increased significantly, according to XRP Ledger data, which presents an intriguing shift in network activity as XRP tries to escape its current consolidation.
According to the most recent XRPL data, 771.7 XRP were burned as fees, which is an 84.3% increase over the prior comparable period. Every transaction on the XRP Ledger slightly lowers the amount of XRP in circulation because transaction fees are permanently destroyed rather than paid to validators.
An 84% increase should not be seen as a significant supply shock because the absolute amount is still very small in comparison to XRP’s massive supply. What the rise indicates about network activity and fee consumption is the more pertinent signal.
It is interesting to note that the burn surge coincides with a number of headline activity metrics that are declining. Successful transactions decreased by 6.5% to 1.6 million, total transactions decreased by 5.6% to 2.2 million, and payments decreased by 7% to roughly 759,200.
This divergence increases the significance of the burn-rate increase. Despite a decrease in overall transaction and payment activity, the XRP Ledger is destroying significantly more XRP in fees. The change implies that fee expenditure per unit of activity has increased significantly, rather than simply reflecting network-wide transaction growth.
In the meantime, XRP’s price is approaching a crucial technical juncture. XRP is currently trading at about $1.38, just below a declining resistance line that formed from the August peak. The psychological $1.40 level and that trendline now converge, forming a distinct short-term barrier.
The pattern of falling local highs would be broken by a confirmed move through $1.40–$1.42, which could reopen $1.45 and then the $1.50–$1.52 area. Support is still concentrated between $1.34 and $1.35, where the long-term moving average is presently located. The next crucial defensive area is between $1.28 and $1.30 below that.
Therefore, the increase in burn does not produce scarcity that can move XRP on its own. However, the abrupt divergence between significantly higher fees burned and weaker headline activity represents a significant change in XRPL’s recent on-chain profile, which coincides with XRP testing its declining resistance.
