With a decisive break above $1.60 and the invalidation of the descending resistance structure that had dominated price action for almost a month, XRP has made one of its strongest technical moves since August. After an intraday push toward $1.66, XRP is currently trading around $1.62.

The breakout comes after a quick recovery from about $1.28, which indicates that XRP has increased by more than 25% from its most recent local low. The breakdown of the downward trendline that connected XRP’s lower highs in August and September is the most significant development.

Before accelerating through $1.50 and $1.60, the price first recovered the line around $1.40. The legitimacy of the breakout was reinforced by the expansion of volume during the advance. At the same time, XRP has easily surpassed each of the daily chart’s major moving averages.

The long-term moving average between $1.36 and $1.37, which was once a significant technical barrier, has essentially turned into support. Although it hasn’t reached the heights of August’s vertical rally, momentum is still strong. The RSI is now in the upper 60s, approaching overbought territory but still having some room.

The obvious question is whether $2 is still a reasonable target. Although the outlook has improved significantly from a technical standpoint, XRP still has ground to cover. Around $1.65 to $1.70 is the first significant resistance.

This is the biggest immediate obstacle because the August rally was rejected at about $1.70. On the given chart, a strong daily close above it would eliminate the biggest visible resistance. It would take an additional gain of about 18% to get from $1.70 to $2.

That is hardly a remarkable move in a market that is already generating large daily candles, but XRP would probably need sustained volume and broader crypto-market strength to maintain it. If XRP drops back below $1.50, the bullish scenario weakens. An even more significant support area is represented by the previous declining trendline between $1.40 and $1.42.

If that zone were lost, the breakout would have failed. For the time being, XRP has successfully completed the challenging part: it has reclaimed $1.60 and escaped its month-long corrective structure. The next confirmation level is $1.70, and if that resistance yields, $2 becomes a technically plausible target.
